G-Research is a leading quantitative research and technology firm based in London and Dallas. We apply scientific rigour, advanced machine learning and cutting-edge technology to tackle the hardest problems in finance and to predict movements in global markets, within a collaborative culture that values deep exploration, methodical execution and long-term thinking.

The role

We are building the AI layer that will transform how teams across the firm work, from quant research to engineering, risk and operations. The Applied AI team is a small, high-autonomy unit focused on putting AI to work across the entire company. As an Applied AI Engineer you will:

  • Develop systems across retrieval, knowledge systems, multi-agent orchestration, evaluation, reliability and context engineering
  • Advance AI systems from prototypes to production-ready solutions
  • Own high-impact projects end-to-end, from concept through deployment
  • Collaborate with teams across the firm to identify challenges and deliver scalable implementations
  • Adapt team-specific solutions for broader organisational adoption

Who we are looking for

You are a strong software engineer actively building with modern AI technologies, with production experience of LLM-powered systems.

  • Hands-on production experience building with LLMs – agents, RAG pipelines, MCPs, tool-use and multi-step workflows; proficiency with LangGraph, Pydantic AI or comparable frameworks
  • Robust Python engineering skills and production-quality, testable code
  • Context engineering expertise: retrieval strategies, prompt construction, information routing and memory
  • Evaluation and observability experience for AI systems – measuring accuracy, detecting regressions and identifying failure modes
  • Comfort moving between research and operations teams
  • Effective communication skills
  • Foundation model fine-tuning or adaptation experience (LoRA, DPO) – preferred
  • Comfort integrating with heterogeneous stacks (C#, C++, JVM, gRPC, Kubernetes) – preferred
  • Open-source AI contributions, technical writing or conference talks – preferred

  • Enhanced support for health, fertility, family forming, maternity and menopause
  • 35 days’ annual leave, enhanced family leave and back-up dependent care for children, adults and pets
  • Cycle-to-work scheme, gym subsidies, free lunch and barista bar
  • Regular company socials, guest speaker series and an excellent work-life balance
